Meditative Writing Retreat: Living from a Grateful Heart @ Santa Maria de la Vid Abbey

Living from a Grateful Heart

Saturday, February 10, 2018, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

“Everything is gratuitous, everything is gift.  The degree to which we are awake to this truth is the measure of our gratefulness.  And gratefulness is the measure of our aliveness,” writes Br. David Steindl-Rast.  Yet our activities, concerns and relationships can so consume our waking life that it can be challenging to cultivate gratefulness.

This day of meditative writing is an opportunity to focus on gratitude for what we have received, so that our attention and energy naturally shift to the Giver, causing us to live more selfless and happier lives.

Meditative Writing Retreats

In the midst of our often overly-busy lives, we all need time and space to reconnect with our deepest selves.  Doing so enables us to live our lives more creatively, compassionately and wholeheartedly.

In these retreats, we will engage in meditative writing practice as a means of exploring and celebrating the wisdom that is available within and around us.  The beauty of this spiritual practice is that anyone can engage in it.  One does not need to be a “writer” to benefit from this method.

Since symbolic language is used throughout the retreat to aid participants in the process of being present to their own lives in the moment, people from any or no particular faith background may feel encouraged in their journey.

The retreats are offered in a supportive, meditative atmosphere which honors the privacy, uniqueness, and significance of each person’s journey.
