ndividual retreatants are welcome to spend time in one of our four comfortable hermitages. Hermitages may be reserved for a few days or for an extended stay subject to availability. Retreatants are welcome to join the Norbertine Community for chanted Morning and Evening Prayer and contemplative Eucharist in the Church of Santa Maria de la Vid (Our Lady of the Vine). Also available for retreatants is The Norbertine Library, the desert Chapel of the Baptist (open 24/7), and a meditative walking path on our 70-acre site.
We do not provide meals but each hermitage has a kitchenette where retreatants can prepare the food they bring with them. The kitchenette includes a microwave oven, toaster oven, coffee maker, two-burner electric stovetop, small refrigerator, sink, plates, cups, cooking utensils, etc.
To reserve a hermitage and/or for more information, please contact Meg Ashcroft at 505-873-4399, Ext. 204, or email her at MAshcroft@norbertinecommunity.org. The cost for reserving a hermitage is $45.00 per night per person. Discount rates are available for longer retreats and for those with low or no income.
Comments from Retreatants
“This hermitage weekend was simply perfect. The quiet was most helpful. I enjoyed the liturgies which are done so simply and beautifully. The library is a great asset.”
“I really rested—something I desperately needed at this time. This was to be a restorative retreat for me and it most certainly fulfilled its intention. This room kept me all day except for 90 minutes in the Chapel of the Baptist followed by a 45 minute walk each day. The grounds and chapels are such a blessing!”
